Work and Play...Enhanced

This photo blog…

February 9, 2011 By zacharyabennett

Good day to readers and viewers. My name is Zachary Bennett and I am a professional photographer currently based in Israel, specifically Northern Tel Aviv.

In this blog we will be posting our unique photos, first-hand experiences, reviews and technique tutorials.

If you are a photographer, hobbyist, adventurer or just an everyday knowledge absorber you will find this blog useful to follow.

Hopefully as time goes on more photographers will join me in making photographic and written posts.

Last week on February 4th, the Women of the Wall met for their monthly services at the Western Wall or Wailing Wall, in Hebrew HaKotel.

Above is a photo I took during services on February 4, which shows a peaceful service. Following this image is a photo I captured on 12 July, 2010, displaying something much different and it even appears to be violent.

Woman with a Torah: An Arrest-able Offense- In July 2010, a Torah scroll is ripped from the hands of Anat Hoffman, a leader of the Women of the Wall prayer group. Hoffman was then arrested with much resistance and conflict by IDF soldiers and Kotel Police. Jerusalem, Israel.

This is a prime example why photographers should not just document an event once. The truly document something you need to capture it on multiple occasion in different lighting. Sometimes this is just for a couple hours and sometimes a couple months, whichever option gives your story, subject or object the most justice.

In this situation, with the Women of the Wall, it was very important for me to document their cause over the course of several months since their struggles and peaceful moments can not simply be captured in a one-hour photo shoot on one day.

One day in August 2010, I awoke from a dream of mirrors and found myself standing in an elevator in Frankfurt, Germany.
